The newly refurbished self catering accommodation has a beautiful, spacious sitting room with log fire, a double bedroom with lovely views of the estate and a large beautifully finished bathroom.

The kitchen is adjacent to the sitting room with 3 steps leading down to it and has every facility you might require. 

Every room is furnished with care and style, in tune with the original character of the cottage and the heritage of Hopetoun.  

You might be tempted never to leave the Thatched Cottage, but immediately out of doors are lovely woodland walks, cycle paths and the splendid Hopetoun House.

Pricing: $

Low Season £305 per week

High Season £550 per week

Thatched Cottage operates week only stays with the change over day being on a Friday.

Unfortunately there is no public transport to Thatched Cottage but if you follow these directions you should find it easily.

From Edinburgh: Head towards the Forth Road Bridge (A90). Take the last slip road before the bridge (A904, South Queensferry) up to the Echline roundabout and follow the brown signs for Hopetoun House. Once through the stone archway (there is a cottage sitting on the left hand side) follow the road until the trees clear. There is a road on your left before you go through the black metal railing fence into the grounds of Hopetoun House. Follow this road up to the top of the hill. The road forks both left and right – take the right hand fork. Thatched cottage is sitting on the right hand side. 

From the North: Head towards the Forth Road Bridge. Once over the Forth Road Bridge take first slip road to South Queensferry and follow the signs fro Hopetoun House. Once through the stone archway (there is a cottage sitting on the left hand side) follow the road until the trees clear. There is a road on your left before you go through the black metal railing fence into the grounds of Hopetoun House. Follow this road up to the top of the hill. The road forks both left and right – take the right hand fork. Thatched cottage is sitting on the right hand side. 

From the South: Take the A720 Edinburgh City Bypass to the junction with the M9. Head west to Junction 2 and then bear north towards the ‘Newbridge Roundabout’. Take the M9 and at junction 1a, follow signs for the Forth Road Bridge and follow the brown signs for Hopetoun House. Once through the stone archway (there is a cottage sitting on the left hand side) follow the road until the trees clear. There is a road on your left before you go through the black metal railing fence into the grounds of Hopetoun House. Follow this road up to the top of the hill. The road forks both left and right – take the right hand fork. Thatched cottage is sitting on the right hand side. 

From the West: Take the M8 from Glasgow. At junction 2 head north towards the ‘Newbridge roundabout’. Follow directions as detailed above (from Edinburgh).

From the M9 Stirling: Exit M9 at junction 2, for the Forth Road Bridge (A904). Take the left turning at the end of slip road, then right leading onto A904. Follow this brown signs for Hopetoun House. Once through the stone archway (there is a cottage sitting on the left hand side) follow the road until the trees clear. There is a road on your left before you go through the black metal railing fence into the grounds of Hopetoun House. Follow this road up to the top of the hill. The road forks both left and right – take the right hand fork. Thatched cottage is sitting on the right hand side.
